Joint Entrance Examination (Main) Session 1 – January 2026. Candidates who wish to
pursue undergraduate courses in Engineering, Architecture, or Planning at top institutes such as NITs, IIITs,
and GFTIs can now apply online. The application process for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 has begun
from 31 October 2025 and will continue till 27 November 2025. This article

Overview of NTA JEE Main 2026
JEE Main is one of the most popular national-level entrance examinations in India conducted by NTA for admission
into B.E, B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Planning courses. The exam is conducted twice a year, giving students two chances
to improve their performance. The January session of JEE Main 2026 is the first opportunity for students seeking
admission in the academic year 2026–27.

Eligibility Criteria
- No upper age limit is applicable for JEE Main 2026.
- Candidates who have passed Class 12th or equivalent examination in 2024 or 2025 or appearing in 2026 are eligible.
- For B.Tech/B.E courses, candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology.
- For B.Arch courses, Mathematics is compulsory at 10+2 level.
- For B.Planning, candidates must have Mathematics as a mandatory subject.
Exam Pattern
The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 examination will be conducted in online mode (CBT). There are separate papers for
B.E/B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Planning. Each paper consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and
numerical-based questions.
- Paper 1: B.E / B.Tech (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
- Paper 2A: B.Arch (Mathematics, Aptitude, Drawing)
- Paper 2B: B.Planning (Mathematics, Aptitude, Planning-based questions)
- Each correct answer carries +4 marks, and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
